The pc will not communicate with the keyboard and mouse as their indicator lights will not come on. The indicator lights for the monitor will come on to show power but nothing is showing on the screen. All three will work with another pc. We purchased a new hard drive and still got nothing. Could it be the motherboard? Can someone help us?

A power spike may of confused your motherboard BIOS
reset them by moving the jumper next to the battery on the motherboard its called bios reset, or you can take out the battery it does the same thing, let it sit unpluged with the battery out for a few minuts, then reinsert, plug everything back in that you unpluged before like your old hard drive, start it up, and reprogram BIOS settings, clock and drives and whatnot.

If you purchased a new hard drive then it needs an operating system installed. I would try pressing F5 or F8 and enter safe mode on your old hard drive as it tries to boot and look for the fault when it opens , maybe do a system restore. Other than that install a new hard drive and boot the PC with a Windows XP disc in the drive and you should just follow instructions as they come on screen but you have just lost all your data.Hope this helps.

believe it is the motherboard if it doesn't boot
your keyboard and mouse has nothing to do with it
the pc will boot to monitor showing logo of it's BIOS regardless if you boot and see nothing on monitor
check all connection again
BIOS always boots first then checks all devices THEN it will check hard drive for operation system

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
