When I try to burn CD's, using either of my two burners, one internal the other external, I often [but not always] get the software to read the one I am burning, ask for a blank CD to write to, then reject the blank CD. I thought the problem was the brand of CD's I was using, since several in a row would burn using Sony, but not Imation. Then I bot a new supply of Sony CD's. It accepted the first one and started rejecting all the ones that followed again.

Do I need yet another burner? Or is there a software glitch here? BTW I have several programs for 'burning' CD's, and they all seem to do the same thing at times. HELP>

Hey People,
I want to take a new PC (assembled) mainly for my programming and gaming! So I wanted a perfect mainboard as well as a graphic card.

Here's the rest of the config:
Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.13
RAM: 1GB DDR2 4200
HDD: 160GB SATA
CD/DVD: Samsung Writemaster
Monitor: LCD 17" LG
and the rest....

Now for the Graphic card:
PC Express 1600 512MB???
or
NVIDIA???
or
ATI???

(I dont know the model, and the memory so please suggest!)

and the mainboard:
Gigabyte
Intel
or Asus?

Which one is better (fr Core 2 Duo)?

I want to add 512 DDR Ram to my computer (to bump it up to a gig for Vista) and I noticed my PC2700 slots at 333 MHz are somewhat outdated. What do I need to do to upgrade my computer to a PC3200 or faster and is it really worth it?

I am having problems with my pc and think its my motherboard but i dont want to waist lots of cash of a expensive one and have found a cheap socket 939 crossfire motherboard. its only £30 and if it fixes my pc then good i dont want to use sli or crossfire. I just want to know are crossfire boards ok to use with nvidia 7900gt. If it fixes the problem ill invest in an expensive board but if it doesnt then ive only lost £30 not £££.

Thanks

Mark

Ok, so I get this stupid idea to insert my old PC's processor to see if it truely was any faster, so I take off the fan, take out the processor, and find out the old one dosn't fit. Now I put the fan back on, machine starts normally, then WHOOSH! My fan reaches top speeds and won't slow down (only ocassionally).

Can anyone help me? I've secured the fan, processor, plugged it in the right way... It's like I never did anything, except it's now making noises. PLEASE HELP!

My laptop's HDD has been failing, and im going to replace it..I going to buy a new one. The Original hard drive was an 'ULTRA ATA' drive...do I have to buy and ultra ATA drive? Will an SATA, PATA, or EIDE drive work instead?..they are less expensive..

I'm not sure if it's fake wood or real wood. Anyways, is it okay to put a DELL Dimension PC on this type of floor? I'm orderring an anti-static floor mat, but until then is it fine to use it on the floor without the mat?

I have an anti-static wrist band as well, which I'm using now.

It instructs to do so in the instructions, but it seems like this would transmit static energy through the case and onto the electronic components. Am I just paranoid?

Well I got a question about microsoft flight sim X. When I try to start the program my computer gives me a message saying Invaild hardware/driver detected....The drivers currently instaled for your video card may cause your computer to stop responding when flight sim is running.
VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP .0
Also with my computer I see the video card is soddered to the mother board, so if I buy a new one for a PCI slot, would that work?

I'm building my computer. I accidently dropped the CPU and bent like 8 pins. I took a small screwdriver(the kind you use for glasses) and bent the pins back carefully and gently with little pressure. I didn't break any. Then when I thought I lined them up they fit fine in the socket. No pressure, just slid down into place. I haven't started the comp yet because I'm picking up some Ram today on my way home, but I'm worried. Will it work still? I won't know till I start it. What is the probability that it won't work? Did I do the right thing?

Do you put the pin horizontal or vertical, and do you put it all the way to the left or right when you want to set the hard drive as the primary? I have a 40gb Maxwell Harddrive, and it worked in my old PC, but when I put it into the Dell Computer (I took out the hard drive from the Dell and replaced it with this one) , the computer does not boot. It is not recognizing the hard drive and I think it is because I have the pin set up the wrong way. Can someone please refer me to either a picture or something visual on the Internet so I can compare?
