Laptop win xp

Well, I got a new computer. On the box, it said it has 512 MBs of RAM. But, for some odd reason, when I went to Control Panel>System>General, it said I only had 300-and-something MBs. Is this normal? Was there just a mistake? Did they give me the wrong comp? lol... Any help is appreciated.

This all started because I wanted to play Half Life 2 (well Day of Defeat anyway) and I kept getting a blue screen of death hinting that my display driver wasn't up to date enough, while following the Nvidia website's tip for updating it, I've deleted the old driver and now I seem in real trouble, can anyone help?!

My brother got an LCD TV and hooked up the PC to the TV (which has a VGA input). His video card is an old Radeon 7000 but it has 2 outputs (DVI and VGA). We put the computer monitor on the VGA and the TV on the dvi with a dvi-to-vga adapter.

The computer is working fine, but the problem is with the TV. It seems to act as an extension of the computer monitor. What I mean is, if I put the mouse cursor in the middle of the computer monitor, it won't show up on the TV. But if I move the cursor all the way to the right, it will show up on the TV. The TV shows the desktop wallpaper, but it doesn't show the start bar or icons. The right-click menu also works on the TV.

Is there anything I can do to make what's on the computer screen match the TV screen?

I seriously do not get this, but here is the dilemma.

I recently reinstalled windows xp on my PC. I removed any bogus data, until I had the basics on the system (i.e. Nero, Belkin, etc.)

The stuff on my system totals up to about 3.94GB, according to when I highlight every single file, including hidden and system file, and diskSpace explorer.

Here's the problem. When I right click C drive, it says 7.48GB is being used.

What is the deal?

(Oh, my Disk Partition is 33GB. I am attempting to clone the disk, therefore minimalising space)

It`s been a week when I used my CD-Rom. I been playing PC Games then one day when I insert a CD in the CD-Rom it won`t auto-play then I went to "My Computer" click the Drive E then it says "Please insert CD in the Drive E.. I don`t know what to do every games that we own won`t work (won`t read)

ok so my computer came with a very small hard drive. It is 30 gigs but only 10 gigs are free space. I am thinking of buying a 80 gig external hard drive. will having this more free space improve my gaming at all (such as running games better and less lag)?

Before, when I was backing up my dvd's my drive would encode at a rate of 4,000 to 5,000 KB's/sec, and now for some reason it will only go about 1,000 KB's/sec. (my comp. seems to fight me while it is happening also) I defragment my comp. and run a disk clean up weekly, how can i get my drive to run like it used to?

I just got an mp3 player and every time I hook it up I get 3 beeps I don’t know what that means but I do know that my pc is not synchronizing with the player, the USB is 2.0, The USB ports also work with my printers, servers, jump drives, and digital cameras, ive tried to sync with the pc when the mp3 player is turned on and when its not, ive unplugged all my other USB devices and just pluged in my mp3 player, and ive tried all 8 USB ports but the pc see's it... it just gives me the 3 beeps and wont sync, the USB on the mp3 isnt bad... i did try it out on my laptop and it works perfectly fine. what do the 3 beeps mean and why isn’t my computer synchronizing with my mp3 player?

When i turn on my computer to install the installion disc it says:
Attempting Int 13 I0 to drive 80 Drive Found!
Attempting Int 13 I0 to drive 81 No Response

Attempting PS ATA Identify -SN<
< - Invalid Response
Attempting PS ATA Identify _

I did not use a new cord or slave drive cord.. what ever its called
Could it be a bad cord?

I am trying to get an old PC up from the dead. I got it to boot in Win98. It has the old keyboard plug (about 5/8" diameter) but no mouse. I have a small plugged mouse, just a little bigger than a quarter inch and an adaptor to serial. Does it go into the serial plug of the serial/parallel card? I have it their but it doesn't want to see it?!

I am trying to set up a new desktop and a new laptop to net gear. The laptop should connect wirelessly and the desktop should connect using an adapter but I'm having the hardest time actually CONNECTING them. Could someone help me and maybe give me step by step instructions please??

One of my keys broke and popped off and I was able to fit it back on then recently it came off again and the stopper under the key came off and is gone.

My computer's progessing fan is acting up. I had it rebuilt and now the fan starts getting so loud sometimes. And a few times its started getting louder and louder and my computer just shuts off. I've cleaned out the fan as well and its plugged in when it does this.

How can I have my key on my keyboard replaced, do I need to send it back to dell, and is my motherboard going out?

I have hundreds of programs on my computer but I want to use these on my computer abroad. The easiest way for me to have a copy of my HD would be to buy a new HD (a bigger one) and make an image copy of my old hard disk and then set up my other computer to boot from this HD (off the USB or 2nd IDE socket), so bypassing its current HD and software. I heard of a program called "Acronis" for carbon copying but this just seems to be for backing up data for the same hardware. I wonder whether this is possible for different hardware, though, as isn't operating system software hardware linked?

i am running firefox and my computer is a dell its not old, but no matter what i am doing it freezes up and it freezes for about 5 seconds then go back to normal but it freezes up EVERY minute

I have been asked to look at my nieces PC she got for christmas
When you first turn it on the opening screen show the hard drive set as primary master but when i run windows xp setup it says there is no hard drive why is this. I took the hard drive out and put it into my pc and it run fine i formatted it and gave it a label no problems so it is not broken

i cant seem to find my manuals for my all-in-wonder 9600 series video card and im not sure if its capable for tv tuning? does anyone know how to setup this chipset for tv tuning? what special cables do i need to connect if any?
