ok so my computer came with a very small hard drive. It is 30 gigs but only 10 gigs are free space. I am thinking of buying a 80 gig external hard drive. will having this more free space improve my gaming at all (such as running games better and less lag)?

first thing I would do would be to uninstall all of the unnecessary software that came bundled with the laptop. then defrag your hard drive.

running apps from a bridged connection will work but performance will be noticeable. you will want to purchase an external hard drive with reasonable size (250 GB or less) that has a high sustained transfer rate of at least 20Mbps. I would also recommend Firewire over USB because it seems that a lot of people are having problems with Windows recognizing USB external drives that are constantly being removed and replaced with other USB devices.
