It won't let me choose line-in or microphone or wave-out/stereo mix anymore. Anybody know how to get these features Windows XP once let me have?

My motherboard is also 2 years old, from ASUS and the sound chip is either Realtek or Sigmatel... all windows tells me is that it is 'high definition audio'.

Hi, just bought a 19" Samsung Widescreen monitor. I have installed all the drivers. Then I tried updating the drivers for my Sis 760 video card that originally came with my computer. It gave me more resolutions ( from 640x480 to 2048x1536 ), but none of them seem to fit just right or look right. Either the browser goes off the screen or someones face looks smushed. Is there anything else I can try ??
Do I need to buy another better graphics card?? I read that the screen supports up to 1440X900. Is that the setting I need for it to look right? Do I have to find a graphics card that supports that?

i dont know much about pc's so i hope this helps u to give me a rough price, i paid £900 back in 2003 for it and then i bought extra memory they might be things i missed out but a rough price would be good.

When the sytstem is turned on it takes around 40 mins to give me a display and this is really annoying. I checked the system out of diagnostic mode. Is there anything that can be done to help me sort out this issue? pls help urgent.

On checking the properties of my C Drive I get used space as 6.08GB. But the actual used space is 5.24GB. I got it when i checked the properties by selecting all the contents of the drive including hidden files. How to recover my lost memory space? Thanks In Advance....

Hi, I bought a few parts the other day and I'm having trouble booting. When I turn on the power supply, the keyboard lights flashes once and when I turn the power on, the led for the power comes on and then nothing, no beeps/fans/HDLED, even after a minute.

I plugged in power supply to the ATX and the ATX12V, CPU fan into CPU fan connector, memory into DDR2 slot 1, hard drive into sata1 and powersupply, dvdrwers to secondary IDE, video card to PCIe, front USB to USB67, front speaker to speaker, front audio to HD_AUDIO1, and the panel1 with white wire being ground and nothing on dummy pin

Yep, and its not doing anything after I press the power
I hope its not a hardware problem...I'm new at this, so any any help would be appreciated!

I am currently working temporarily at a well-known thumbdrive company in Singapore. I have customers asking me if it possible to make a thumbdrive bootable, i.e. to make the computer startup from the thumbdrive itself. How can I update my system so World of Warcraft and other MMORPGs arnt choppy?
I recently started played World of Warcraft and it is extremely choppy in the forest and open areas but in closed areas its smooth. After ruling out latency and drivers, I have realized its my video card. My card is a S3 ProSavageDDR with recent drivers.
ALSO* I checked my system's compatability on a cool site for WoW and it says my video card is not compatible because it doesnt have lighting and transition or something..

System Specs-

AMD Athlon 1666 MHz
992 MB ram
S3 ProSavageDDR(32mb 4x AGP speed)
Mother Board: MSI KM2M Combo (MS-6738)
- 1 462 Socket
- 3 PCT 1 AGP
VIA ProsavageDDR chipsets

I was wondering what video card I could buy to get a nice smooth game. Either way i need a better card around 50-70 bucks that would fix up the computer.

I found an nVidia at 32mb with 8x AGP speed but I was looking for something with a higher core without killing my wallet.

my computer can display DVD/CD-RW Drive(E), but can't ready any discs,

BTW, Device Manager : shows that MATSHITA UJDA740 DVD/CDRW , properties: device status: this device is worig properly.
device usage: use this device (enable).

this dvd-rom/cd-rw COMBO is built in Sony laptop.

I have tried to blow the sensor by using hair dryer, it does work.
Any solutions ? thanx

I just bought a optical wireless mouse and it sucks, it's reaction time is much slower than the wired mouse and it takes like 2 times longer for the computer to pick up the signal and start to move the cursor.

I bent the pins back and nothing is bent because I checked. I moved the RAM and Video card in and out of slots and made sure they are secure. Fans are working on all accounts. I heard 4 short beeps repeatedly like 8 times total of those 4 short beeps. MY MB is M2V-TVM ASUS. What could it be?
