An rj-45 to rj-45 labeled as a "network cable" should be just a standard straight-through cable. Otherwise, it should have been labeled as "cross-over" or etc.

Yes. Check to make sure the strands are the same color in the same position on both ends. If it was a cross over cable it would be labeled as such.
