When the sytstem is turned on it takes around 40 mins to give me a display and this is really annoying. I checked the system out of diagnostic mode. Is there anything that can be done to help me sort out this issue? pls help urgent.

Don't you have a more senior systems admin who you can ask? If your organization is sophisticated enough to have Sun systems in the first place, it should also have people experienced enough to run them without going to Yahoo Answers.
There is no way to troubleshoot your problem without having more information about the system, the setup, its recent history, etc.

If the machine is suddenly very slow it sounds like a hard drive is failing. A quick diagnostic can often miss this kind of problem so you are best off trying to pull the data off of it quickly and performing a more rigorous test to see if the drive needs replacing.
