Which means that either the hard drive conectors have become dislodged or it has become damaged in some way. I assume that you are talking about your second hard drive as you are typing this question. YOu need to open up your computer and check the IDE and power supply cables to your hard drive. If these seem to be connected then you could try changing them if you have any spare ide or power supply cables in your computer.
If this doesn't work then go into BIOS and see if the hard drive is registering there. If not then your hard drive is probably damaged and needs repairing or replacing. If it is registered on your bios then you just have a problem with windows, you could try formatting the drive in msdos mode and scan your computer for viruses.

I can only think of putting the mouse cursor over the drive icon in control panel.See what it says. Might help. If not try highlighting the drive, then go to file or whatever up the top left there, and rename with letter you want (poss C?). Or try right clicking on the drive icon, or on the desk top near it and try a rename or something. Hope you get it sorted OK, Good luck!

Generally this means you have a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Failure
You need to connect the HDD to another Computer to be sure.
Use the internet to connect to the manufacturer of your drive for advise.
I.E. Seagate or Western Digital or whatever
If you can't use your computer go to a mates place or a Community Center and use there internet connection.
Be sure to have your HDD in your hand so you can enter the information required. Such as Serial Number, Model Etc.

Right click my computer>select manage>click disk management.
If you see your drive in there you need to partition and format the drive. If you dont see the drive in there you need to shut off your machine and check the jumpers or location on the ribbon cable. If that still doesn't help go into BIOS and make sure your BIOS recognizes it and its not disabled or something.

Is the hard drive connected properly? Is it formatted? Did you assign a drive letter to the partition?

If you can see the drive in "My Computer" try right clicking it and then click "rename" and give it a letter. But not one that is already in use.

right click on "my Computer" click manage, then disk management, look on bottom right for your drive. Right click on it, if you see it, and look for a way to attach it.
