On checking the properties of my C Drive I get used space as 6.08GB. But the actual used space is 5.24GB. I got it when i checked the properties by selecting all the contents of the drive including hidden files. How to recover my lost memory space? Thanks In Advance....

Do remember that your system also 'grabs' some of the hard drive to use for swap files, virtual memory etc.
This could well account for the 'missing' memory.

The space is not lost, it just needs to be cleaned up. If you look at what you mentioned again, click on "disk cleanup" next to it.

A better way is to go to download.com and get a 30 day trial of "TuneUP'. This will clean every old file you ever had out of your PC.

Dear Harsha,

Did you try using the disk defragmenter? If not, pls go to programs, accessories, system tools and you will find it there. Make sure no other program is running when you use this facility. All the best !

well, first thing is first, you have loads of things on your comp. that you probably dont know about even if you choose to show all hidden and all system protected. BUT, 1st thing 1st, do all the basic stuffs, empty your recycle bin, use disc cleanup and the defragmentation tool.
