Reformatting that often will reduce the length that your hard drive will last. It would be a lot simpler to install a good anti-virus program to PREVENT infects. Plus scan it regularly with an anti-spyware program.

Go to download.com and get AVG (7.5) for your anti-virus program. It is free. Then add both Skybot Seek&Destroy and Ad-aware for spyware protection. You will want to manual run those once a week to check for spyware. Finally go to Microsoft.com and get Defender to guard against malware attacks.

If you have those in place, updated, and run then once a week you should not need to reformat the PC.

If you don't mind all the fuss, it's ok. But another alternative is to keep your firewall on and get a good antivirus. AVG is free and good.
