My brother got an LCD TV and hooked up the PC to the TV (which has a VGA input). His video card is an old Radeon 7000 but it has 2 outputs (DVI and VGA). We put the computer monitor on the VGA and the TV on the dvi with a dvi-to-vga adapter.
The computer is working fine, but the problem is with the TV. It seems to act as an extension of the computer monitor. What I mean is, if I put the mouse cursor in the middle of the computer monitor, it won't show up on the TV. But if I move the cursor all the way to the right, it will show up on the TV. The TV shows the desktop wallpaper, but it doesn't show the start bar or icons. The right-click menu also works on the TV.
Is there anything I can do to make what's on the computer screen match the TV screen?

What's happening is that the second display is "extending" the desktop. Right-click on the "normal" display and select properties. Then select the settings tab. You should see an "image" of both displays; one with a number 1 and one with a number 2. These represent the monitor and the TV.
Click on the TV and then make sure the "Extend my Windows Desktop..." checkbox is NOT checked. This will allow both monitors then to display the same information.

If you're using both outputs from the video card you are running what's called an "extended desktop". You will only see the start menu bar and things such as that on one of the screens. Right click on the desktop and go to Properties, look at Setting tab at the top to the right. See which one is listed as 1 and which is 2.
You can do a couple of things here.. you can click on the number 1 or 2 and enable or disable "Extend my windows desktop to this monitor" That will turn on or off one of the monitors. If you want to use both then you have it setup correctly right now. You can actually run a program and drag it onto the next window and open up another in the first screen BUT beware if you shut down the computer and leave the other program on the extended desktop and do not turn that one on when you go to run that program you won't see it because it's "stuck" on the other desktop so just be aware. Anyway, as you have it right now it is working correctly and the way it's supposed to look.
All's it does is "extend" the screen to the next monitor. It doesn't mirror it like you'd like to but again "extends" it. You can decide which screen you'd like as the main screen but you can only have one. Hope this helps.
