tried running it but it says i have to install it, but it tries to install then it abortes it. please help!

did you check the requirements on the back of the box like certain amount of memory and stuff like that??

to run the sims 2 for my grand-daughter I had to have my computer updated and now have installed them all including the new sims pet without any trouble

You may not have enough memory to run it. Try deleting programs that you don't use, but be careful on what you uninstall.
