computer help?

i have an older gateway SOLO laptop with windows 2000 profesional and i got it turn on today but the screen has no backlight , how can i get it to come on? i know the sreen works because i can faintly see the desktop

There may be an option to turn up the brightness. Look for a blue option that has a half-filled in blue circle with an up arrow next to it. Then look for a key with a blue Fn on it. Press the blue Fn key and then the display brightness key several times. This should increase the brightness.
