I want to add 512 DDR Ram to my computer (to bump it up to a gig for Vista) and I noticed my PC2700 slots at 333 MHz are somewhat outdated. What do I need to do to upgrade my computer to a PC3200 or faster and is it really worth it?

Unless your motherboard supports the faster RAM, it won't help.
Mixing PC2700 & PC3200 will make the PC3200 run at the same speed as PC2700.
I doubt that you would even notice the speed difference between PC2700/PC3200.
Unless you upgrade your CPU/MB, just add RAM & don't worry if it is PC2700 or 3200.
I have put PC3200 in systems that call for PC2700 because it was cheaper.
As you may have noticed, RAM starts as expensive, gets cheap when it is just past it's peak, then starts to go back up in price as it fades away.

First how are you going to update the memory slots on your PC, or do you mean to buy a new PC.
Second you can use PC3200 memory in a PC2700 slot, the memory will work fine however you will not see any difference in performance between PC2700 and PC3200 memory because your computer uses the slowest rate of the memory.

You won't get much bang for your buck by installing faster RAM unless your motherboard is capable of taking advantage of it. The faster RAM should work fine with your computer, but it'll only run at the speed the motherboard can handle.

Personally, I'd go with the cheaper of the two.

I suggest you visit www.crucial.com to check into your RAM oprtions. Make sure you use the machine you want to upgrade to visit the site, because Crucial can check your machine and recommend upgrades that will work with it.

im no longer one hundred% yet i think it has to do with compatibly with the motherboard, attempt finding to make certain if your motherboard is nicely suited (i'd additionally say that the 3200 is speedier and/or extra efficient.
