since noone else has really answered your quetstion, let me tell ya,the windowx xp upgrade edition is so you can upgrade your current operating system, such as windows 98..or windows 2000..etc, without having to pay the full price for the full version of windows xp. Since you do not have any cds, i would suggest buying the full version, I believe its around $20 more than upgrade version, because if you ever need to format hard drive, you do not have any of the previous operating system disks. Technically, you are not allowed to put one copy of xp on two computers, they would requier two seperate copies, but it can be done.

advancements and finished variations are the comparable. the only distinction is that an improve has a utility that desires to work out a criminal installation Key. the adaptation comes once you placed contained in this gadget. An improve provides the prospect to "improve" and save your present record shape. that's have been maximum individuals get into hassle. Upgrading usually would not paintings all that properly. that's greater effective to lower back up all your very own information and then do a sparkling set up onto a freshly formatted perplexingcontinual. XP will stroll you thru all of this. you truly do could desire to go as much as a minimum of XP. there is not any help for ninety 8 to any extent further.

Windows XP has nothing to do with spreadsheets, ignore the previous answer. Windows XP Pro is made for businesses that use networks. more network utilities and apps are built into to XP Pro such as the "Ping" utility, "Ipconfig", "NBSTAT"...stuff like that. If you have no idea what these do or mean then the Home edition will be OK for you. Its a little cheaper I believe.
