Ok, so, there has been this clunking sound coming from the hard drive for a while now (atleast half a year or more), usually when I start up and once or twice at night. It is occasional.
Now, before anyone starts screaming HDD failure, this has been happening pretty long and no signs of failure yet. What is the problem?
Yesterday, I installed Lavasoft Pro and the clunking came irregular in short intervals but that was the only time it happened. This hard drive is pretty old (been through two builds).

Babe19 - Of course it isn't something regarding the fan. Otherwise, it would happen regularly. If the molex bumps into it, assuming the fan is strong enough to force it back, then it would come back in regular intervals.
If it was strong enough to always keep it back with air, then it would make a noise as soon as I start up which also isn't the case. So no - fans aren't an issue.

Philip T - I realize that but I'm saying what could be wrong with the HDD. I realize those are the moving parts, and by a process of elimination, the HDD is the only one that I am not sure is the problem.
