Basically what I am wanting to do is transfer everything that is on my Dad's computer to a better one, transfer everything on my Mom onto my Dad's old comp, and finally transfer what is on my current comp onto my Mom's comp. Upgrading each of the computers. All of us have quite a bit of information, programs, data, etc... on our computers, and my Dad and I are trying to find a way to just move from one computer to another. It seems like a simple enough concept, but we are not finding any way to do it. We are trying NOT to have to back everything up to discs (that would be stacks!!!) and then lose the programs we already have installed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Microsoft Tech Support was no help what-so-ever, and this is one of our last options.

Check out Laplink PCmover. It can move all your programs, files, and settings plus it will work with Windows Vista.

Windows XP comes with a File and Settings Transfer Wizard. It's under Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools

Also, You could just swith the hard drives on all the computers. It's a rather easy task and all data, programs, and settings are saved on the hard drive.

If you have an iPOd, you can put all of your data on to it by setting disk use. Just hook it up to the new computer
