I have a C drive thats pretty much filled up to the maximum at this point and a D drive thats practically empty. If anyone could give a step by step guide as to how to convert my computers saved files from C drive to D drive it would really help me out. Thanks

You cannot move/copy system files as Windows will no longer function. Anything else can be transferred simply by copy and paste.

Right click copy on file in Drive C
Right click paste into Drive D

Also try doing a disc clean up. Start>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Clean up.

Joe, you don't quite give enough information for an intelligent answer. Is the D: drive an installed stand-alone hard drive or is it a partition?? I have one hard drive that is partitioned into C: & D: but D: contains only recovery stuff. Don't want to mess with that.

If you have a separate D: drive, then GET ORGANIZED. You should decide in advance what files you will store on D: Don't just offload bunches of random files.

For ex, I would store all my pics, videos, and music there. That takes a lot off the C: drive.

Without more info, that's about the best I can recommend.

id have to agree with the previous answer. it may be easier to select files you want to transfer on your C drive (select many at a time by holding ctrl and clicking on the ones you want), then drag and drop it into your D drive folder.

right click on the files or folders you want to move to d drive, select cut, then go to d drive, right click there and select paste. this moves the selected files to the d drive

hope this helps

the easiest way to send a file to the D drive is to right click on the folder, and choose Send To choose the D drive and the correct place you want to send it to.
