I have an old hard drive that came out of a computer whose motherboard overheated. It was a slave drive with no OS. It had all my video and music data on it. We trashed the old computer but took this out. I really don't want to open my brand new computer to make this the slave drive, is there any way to make this an external with an enclosure without having to reformat it and partition it in effect losing all of my old data?

I bought 2x512M PC2-5300 DDR2 667 ECC Memory from Ebay, but they cannot be used on my Dell Dimension 9100, I think it's because the i945 motherboard does not support ECC Memory. what can I do to Change the ECC Memory to non-ECC Memory, or to make the i945 motherboard support ECC Memory?

If i have an old system, e.g. a system with one of the first celeron processors, would an ATA hard drive work on it? or do i need to specifically look for a drive that says IDE? or is IDE the same as ATA? Confused?

My windows system has crashed (partial hard-drive falure), and the only way I can think of to get the files off the system is to use my USB Flash sticks (some parts of the hard drive still work just fine). Any suggestions would be very helpfull at the moment.

i have a new external hard drive which i need to partition, when i go via disk management, select the drive and right cliick i don't get the option to partition ( the manual with the drive tells me this will happen) is this because i use windows xp and the external drive is fat32. one option is to format the drive is this what i need to do first? please keep any answers simple i am computer dum dum - thanks happy new year

recently i came home from work to find my user acct had been changed from a comp. admin acct. to a limited account and my gf's to the master acct. after correcting the prob, a week later when returning from work pc would not boot past DELL SCREEN. she said that she had the hard drive locked until she could finish having someone install my suprise. i can only access the F2 SYSTEM SETUP, and F12 BOOT MENU. what do i need to do to fix this prob.? help!!!

I am not planning to buy a new system for a few years, but I was wondering if duel core processor systems were worth buying yet. I ask this because I am assuming that software will need to be written for the duel core processors to actually get the max usage out of them (i guess a similar case would be someone that wanted to play system resource hog computer games so he bought a duel processor system, the games were not written to worth with 2 processors so the usage is not optimal).

Anyway I'm asking because the prices on these systems are dropping and they are actually starting to look half way decent, so I ask my question again do you think duel core processors are worth buying yet?

my new "ECS NFORCE 570 SLIT-A (V5.1) Socket T (LGA 775) NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI ATX Intel Motherboard" i just got it today, and i installed it fine, booted fine, except when i try to install a game, or install something and insert a CD, it reboots. . . i dont know what going on, and i NEED HELP!!!
