Different boards have different mounting points which may not match your case.

If you get a mid-tower or full tower, any motherboard will fit. It's when you get to odd sizes or cases smaller than a mid-tower like the media center or small form factor PC's. These require special motherboards.

just read the specs. it will tell you the sizes that fit (ATX, Micro ATX) just make sure they match the motherboard size
