AM2 motherboard is for AMD processor
Socket 478 and 754 motherboard are for Intel processor. Socket 754 is the later version than 478.

it means AM2 board has 940-pin socket,socket 478 has 478 pin and
Socket 754 Motherboard has 754 pin sockets respectively.that means they can handle processors having the same no of pins or less if architecture supports.
Am2 boards cannot support 939 pin processors as the architecture for both is different even though the difference in pins is only one
