When I start my computer it shows POST which is the asus logo. After that the screen goes black for about 20 seconds and then my windows starts to load. How do I get rid of this screen. My motherboard is the asus P4V8X-MX.

HI I am think about building a computer. Now I need a case and MOBO but I am worried like are all MOBOs match up to the slots in the case? Like you know cases have slots in the metal of them? Well do all motherboards fit in all cases? Then I need a PSU so they all fit in any cases? Then a CPU and I just need a CPU that just matches up to the socket on motherboard? Do the caches mean anything? Then do motherboards have different PINS for RAM? So get ram at any speed but just has right amount of pins? Then hard drive dosent matter. Then get video card with PCI-E X16 on a motherboard that has that. Is that really it? Do i need to mess with jumpers or anything? And BIOS? Then install WINDOWS XP? And thats it? What did I miss?

My PC was messed up (it came with XP Home) so I erased the hard drive and my friend gave me a brand new DELL reinstallation disk for XP, although it says that the product key I must use is on the computer. Now I am using the PC, but I want to activate xp, and I tried the product key on the bottom of my laptop, but it still didnt work (but my new xp is PRO). Now I dont know what to do. However, the New XP Pro is legit, so I dont wanna buy another, if u think it isnt legit.

My compter is not starting back up after i restarted it. The "red light" now stays on, ALL of the drives do infact boot up, but it only boots to a black screen.

Before you say it this is not a monitor problem.

It will play older DVD but when I try to play newer DVDs it won't play them. Nothing happens. The DVD drive just keeps on making these beeping sounds. It will play a new DVD every once in a whilce, but then it stops working again.

Ok , so I know it's not because it's hot in my apartment. I know it has to do with my cpu chip running hot because of programs that are always running. Question is, how do I know what programs I can disable in order for my computer's fan to always run once I have more than 2 programs running...I.E. internet explorer and media center. ok heres the story...the problem...and hopefully one of you will give me the solution...

I was putting in another drive into my computer (\F). Before I did my computer was working PERFECTLY!...but then I wanted more drive space .

Once I was finished putting in the drives (don't worry...they were put in properly)... and I started the computer this is what happened.

It showed a s creen that demanded a boot disk or device. So the first try I put it in and it asked me what ways to start out windows. I chose best configuration, the next time normal, and the last time safe mode. Every single time it showed me a screen after saying this: One of your drives is corrupted r has a virus (and my drive was new so it must have had some kind of virus). you must restart yoyur computer. if you see this again you must run chkdsk for drive \F . How do I do that if I cant even start up windows?!?!?

Somebody PLEASE help me.

the keys on the keyboard i mixed up for example the @ key is when you press shift and 2 and the " is where the @ key is etc... also the pound sign comes up as a # but that key comes up as | why is this? and how do i fix it?

How do I tell if my computer has a DVD burner?

All I get when I try to copy the files to the DVD+R is that it is not a writable disk, and I should insert a CD.
