My compter is not starting back up after i restarted it. The "red light" now stays on, ALL of the drives do infact boot up, but it only boots to a black screen.

Before you say it this is not a monitor problem.

Anything you say will help I'm sure, thank you.

NEW DETAILS!!: There are no options for safe mode or anything of the sort. The only thing I get is a black screen, I've tried off and on the video card.

NEW DETAILS AGAIN!!: I had just installed a windows updated, restarted it to take effect, and now it seems my computer is fried. To be honest, I think it was coincidental and was bound to screw up on the next shut down/restart.

LOL!
somebody has been messing with the system bios! HA! ive had this problem. Happens most when people go into the cmos at set periphrals to high more commonly known as over clocking.

your going to have to reset your bois on your mother board to defalt. This may sound difficult but its real easy. Open your case and look on your mother boad for 4 pins with 2 of them with a jumper conntecting the 2. Pull it off and start your computer and wait for about a min. Turn your puter off by holdong down the power button for 5 seconds. Then replace the jumper and turn your puter on. It will work.

hit f8 or f12 depending on your bios for advanced options menu. First try last known configuration if that doesn't work go in with safe mode and try looking at logs and such..

And computer guy, you have no idea what your talking about. It could be a million things. Looks like you need a new hobby..

You probably fried a critical system component by overheating it. Try reinstalling windows or boot from a disk. If this does not work send it to a specialist. You can replace the motherboard and harddrive which should be covered under your warranty.

Hi,

Have you added any new hardware and/or software since you last rebooted your box? What O.S. is on the box? Try going into safe mode by tapping f5 or f8 while the computer is booting up. Let us know if you can get into safe mode.

Try resetting the BIOS...

Locate JP5 on the motherboard and switch from pins 1-2 to 2-3 and back again (of course with the power off)

or

Remove the watch battery and reinsert it (of course once again with NO POWER)

It could be a problem with your video card. Check the moniter anyway and try restarting again. Why did you restart your computer? Was it having problems?

Have you tried a safe mode start (F8 while booting) and have you checked whether your CPU fan is clean and cooling the CPU.

If it's not your video card (you may need to try a new card-I've had this problem before) it could be your software....Windows is out. You're going to need to reinstall. Before doing this, give it a couple of days.
