Sounds like you have a german keyboard layout.

Maybe you changed the default language or somebody is trying to mess with you ...

To change the default language:
1. Click Start and then Control Panel.
2. Double-click Regional and Language Options.
3. Click the Languages tab.
4. Click Details
5. Under Default Input Language, add the language you want.
6. Under Installed Services, remove the ones you don't want.
7. Click OK.

This commonly happens on laptops when they come out of hibernation and the NumLk button defaults on. So instead of numbers you have the alternate shift positions on the keyboard. To alleviate the problem press .

If you are not using a laptop, ensure your numlock is still not enabled, and if so disable it from the keyboard settings. Note this is of course the numlock setting for the numbers on the main part of your keyboard, not the number pad.

If it starts this way on power up, try looking at your boot settings.

Dont Panic. Keyboard is not configured correctly. It needs to know where it is. ie UK or USA. I do not know your OS. Try
Start - Control Panel - Hardware/Keyboard. Also is it a new keyboard ? Did you install drivers ? Try - Start - Help & Support.
You can download drivers from microsoft. Good luck.
Bet u fix it instead of replacing it.

Chop off your fingers and wrap them in your hanky run down the casualty dept and get them to sow on your fingers in different positions to suit your typing preference, problem solved,,but don't chop off your index finger otherwise you won't be able to pick your nose and scratch you butt or hit the return key
