Ok , so I know it's not because it's hot in my apartment. I know it has to do with my cpu chip running hot because of programs that are always running. Question is, how do I know what programs I can disable in order for my computer's fan to always run once I have more than 2 programs running...I.E. internet explorer and media center. Thanks to everyone for sharing your insight beforehand!

dear oh dear,, it is not the programs that make the fan run,,, if it didn't run your cpu would over heat, and melt your mother board.. and everything on it,,, never try to stop any fan from working or your in trouble

You might not want to try to slow them down unless you can and know how to watch the temperatures for you motherboard and CPU. There are fan controllers out there for controlling the fan(s) speed. Those are mostly used in systems people have built themselves. Running cool never hurts a computer.

Fan speeds are controlled by the motherboard and therefore you do not want to mess with them. You can control them with various programs but unless you know what you are doing (as in you are an Overclocker) you do not want to change the system settings

If your fan is running that means it's working. Don't stop things from working.

Your laptop could be Overheating. maximum desktops' covers come off so which you will sparkling it out. you could take it off (once you UNPLUG IT!) and get a Can of Compressed air(you may get this on the dollar save) and Blow all the dirt out. this could sparkling up the subject.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
