I HATE all the wires and connectors inside my computer. I am an experienced aircraft instrument electrician. Everything i worked on was a lot smaller, and I just repaired it never modified anything. I can cut, splice, solder just fine, but is it really a good idea?

I already have tried opening it in My Computer and pressing eject. I also cleaned the inside of the tower with air and it won't do anything. I am sure there is a simple answer but it is not coming to me and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It's a Dell and I already went to the website and found no answers as of yet.

As part of an attempt to find out what was causing my desktop PC's processor to overheat, I noticed that under CPU tab in Apllications in Task Manager, a particular item referred to as System Idle Process was showing 98 to 99 while other processes showed either 00 or 02 of CPU.

Could this be a reason why the processor is overheating ? If yes, then how to stop this particular process that is overloading the Processor ?

So I put together a computer on a motherboard that was used. There is still a boot password on the computer. I tried to find a jumper or dip switch that would erase BIOS settings but can't find it anywhere. There is a little yellow button that says CMOS next to it and has two "N"s on both sides with arrows coming off of them. I tried pushing that and holding it down for 30 seconds. No dice. Can't find anything. Decided to unplug the computer, unplug power to the motherboard and take out the little battery. Left it out for 15 minutes. Nothing. 2 hours. Nothing. All night,, nothing. No results from any of the above, the boot password is still alive and kicking. What now? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Computer Problems?
I have a Dell Dimension 3000 Desktop computer with Windows XP Home Edition operating system. I damaged my cd drive because the drawer was open, I bumped into it and had to force it to close. Now my computer will not shut off. After I tell it to shut down, it just restarts all over again and I have to manually turn it off while it's shutting down. I tried to disable the drive and delete it, but when the computer restarts again, the drive reappears. Can I get someone to open up my computer and take out the cd drive all together?

I play Anarchy Online, Guildwars and other games.

Have 2.4 GHz Pentium Dual Core
2 GB ram -(Yes compatible)
P4LD2 Deluxe Motherboard.
300+ GB Hard Drive (50% occupied)
Updated Windows XP with service pack,
(No viruses, no adware/spyware etc detected)

I have been having Freeze/Lockup problems with it and it is really buggin me.
Reinstalled already, updated, bios, drivers etc.

I am thinking that the games I use just hate running on dual core?
I already have tried changing affinity and such....

Guildwars- it really hates this game-
(launched it on one core, experimented with affinity, changed to full screen or windowed and was able to get it to a point where it doesnt freeze comp as often, but within around 1-2 hrs)
Anarchy online- only a little bit but it kinda gets annoying having a comp with dual core and not able to dual log.

Interestingly enough, the lockups dont seem to happen alot with other games.(free Asian MMORPGs)

I checked temperature too, max around 49c degrees.

HELP!

I have tried to enter bios to clear the NVRam but I can not get into bios I have tried and ctrl> and F2 and del but I can not enter bios at all and it just freezes on the "Alert Cover Was Previosly Removed" Screen. I was going to just replace the battery just in case but I can not even find the battery. I have also felt the CPU heatsink and it was hot to the touch. I tried letting it cool down for an hour but It did not fix the problem. The problem did not start until I tried to print something and it wouldnt so I reset the system. Any help would be much appreciated

In fact, normally the system shall be idle after computer start up and the system idle process will take 99% of CPU when nothing is running. But my situation is just opposite which causes my computer almost not functioning. If I terminate the system process, my computer will be shut down right away. My anti-virus and spyware programs did not detect anything. What might be the causes? Any suggestions to fix this situation? My system is AMD Athlon 3200 running with Win XP Prof.
Thanks for any input fixing this problem...

Gateway 702GE computer with Pentium 4 HT chip, 250 GB hard drive, 1 GB Memory, a 16x DVD R/RW, only hardware added was a 512mb ATI Radeon Video card.

I haven't been able to do a full virus scan in like 4 months due to it restarting half way through every time. I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled the gateway recovery disc and its still restarting, I've stripped the programs down to the bare minimum and have updated all the drivers, and it still is restarting. I've asked people and they've said it could be anything from my power supply to a bad sector on my hard drive or a bad motherboard, PLEASE i beg of you HELP ME! I just can't figure it out and its gotten to the point where i just want to throw it out the window.......
