I play Anarchy Online, Guildwars and other games.

Have 2.4 GHz Pentium Dual Core
2 GB ram -(Yes compatible)
P4LD2 Deluxe Motherboard.
300+ GB Hard Drive (50% occupied)
Updated Windows XP with service pack,
(No viruses, no adware/spyware etc detected)

I have been having Freeze/Lockup problems with it and it is really buggin me.
Reinstalled already, updated, bios, drivers etc.

I am thinking that the games I use just hate running on dual core?
I already have tried changing affinity and such....

Guildwars- it really hates this game-
(launched it on one core, experimented with affinity, changed to full screen or windowed and was able to get it to a point where it doesnt freeze comp as often, but within around 1-2 hrs)
Anarchy online- only a little bit but it kinda gets annoying having a comp with dual core and not able to dual log.

Interestingly enough, the lockups dont seem to happen alot with other games.(free Asian MMORPGs)

I checked temperature too, max around 49c degrees.

HELP!

Games not pirated(guildwars was bought from store) Anarchy online is a free game, nor is windows-bought it from best buy.
Not spyware etc since it happens even when the stuff was reinstalled etc.

Happens mostly with Guildwars thus I stop playing it cause I cant even finish one mission before computer freezes.
Used to freeze every 5 minutes.
Cant CTRL ALT DELETE or anything.
Have to press reset button...

I also dont think its registry since its happened even after a full format/reinstall with all the updates etc...

Comp runs call of duty without any problems.
Elder Scrolls Oblivion , can run it for hours even at high settings.

If you have a pirated copy of these games it could be a Windows security feature trying to stop the game from playing. Check and make sure your software is valid

Did you try cleaning junk in the registry, temp files, disc check utility? Try RegSupreme and CCleaner. You may have a corrupt install file on the game disks, in which case you can send them in for a free replacement.

You have a software problem, not hardware.
