With a powerful rest-of-system like that, why are you being cheap on the graphics card? I recommend that if you're worried about DirectX 10 support, you shuold get a GeForce series 8 graphics card (GeForce 8800 comes to mind), which is designed to support DirectX 10.

This rig will support windows Vista, but I do not recommend Vista for gaming as it does have 10 extra resources and uses 300 MB more RAM than XP. The best OS to use for gaming at the moment is Windows XP, until Vista is modified enough for gaming by Microsoft.

I hope this helps,

Pat.

Better get the 7300GT 256mb ddr3, it is faster and will beat 512mb ddr2 ALL the time. 512mb is not always fully utilized in games.
500W power supply is enough if it is ATX V2.01 or 2.2 w/c has dual +12V rails. Otherwise, it might be weak on the very important +12V rail(s).
It will support Vista but your card is still DX9. You could opt to have the 8500GT or the 8600GT. Both are DX10 video cards.
