I just finished biulding my computer. It turns on but wont boot. What could the problem be? The cpu fan is spinning, does this mean the processors working? The hard drive is also making noise.

The specs are::
ASUS P5N32 SLI DELUXE MOBO
INTEL CORE 2 DUO 2.13GHZ
SEAGATE 500GB HD
2GB CORSAIR DDR2 RAM
EVGA Geforce 8800 gts

I turn on the computer and it powers up, but the monitor says no connection. Can anyone help?

I have a microsoft milleneum 2000, and its been having problems. Like it was in safe mode for some strange reason, so i changed it to normal mode. When I got on n ormal mode the colors were the same as in safe mode, so i changed them to normal colors and changed the desktop size to normal (800 by 600) Then it told me to restart so the changes could work but they didn't. I've been doing this several times. Nothing happens. I want it to get normal so I can play my games on it !!!! help??

I want to use it for editing film, writing screenplays, music (I will have Itunes and I want to record music. Taking into account various Microsoft programs and Internet Explorer I guess it'll have to be quite big? Editing on my laptop is dreadful.

If you could help on processors, etc (what kind would be best) I would be really grateful. I've never done this kind of thing before.

Hey,

I have a Dell Dimension e520, it came with a Pentium D 805 dual core that i just recently replaced to a Core 2 Duo e6400, I also upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista Home Premium. Anyways i have an Nvidia 7300 LE and i want to upgrade my video card in the near future to maybe an Nvidia 8600 GTS or even a Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS...(because i found out the 7300 isnt too good for games....although i did finish F.E.A.R and F.E.A.R extraction point, but with some lag).....my question is i want to know how i find out if my motherboard is compatible with those, and how i find out? Lol i was going to build my own computer instead of the Dell but im probably not experienced enough yet.....next computer i get ill build......but if i can upgrade to a nice video card like the ones i mentioned i will be set for while.... :D

Thanks a lot =]

When i switched my pc on yesterday morning i noticed a new hardware symbol in the bottom right hand corner i believe i clicked on it and it disapeared. Now though when i click the start symbol in the bottom left and then click my computer it says there is a 3 1/2 floppy drive in devices with removable storage and i have done nothing different and have certinately have not connected a floppy drive. Also not sure whether this is connected but when i switch on my pc when it firsts starts it now asks me to press either f1 or DEL to continue.I have so far pressed f1 and it starts up as usual but it never asked me to do this before yesterday.I hope someone can help me stop my pc from thinking it has a 3 1/2 floppy connected.

At first I thought I did somethink to delete it but then under my husband's name his recycle bin shortly dissappeared too. We have done everything to try to locate it such as search and so on but have not been sucessful. It is eating up our memory to not be able to empty our recycle bins so any help would be great. Thank you.

I just purchased it online and then thought Doh!

Will I have to add DDR2 RAM to my order also? Or can I just get by at a lower rate for now.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

...so anyway, the gf's demands on what we can have in our 44sq m place in Copenhagen has forced me to build a small form factor computer'.

Now, what I'd like to know, is how far can I push this little device?

..as it only comes with a 200W PSU, and I don't want to melt the thing.

So far, I've added the following:

P4 531+ 3.0GHz (clocked at 3.42GHz and no crashes yet)
Twin s/w striped hard disks (7200rpm IDE &7200rpm SATA)
Radeon 800rx 256MB 3D card
Audigy X-Fi sound card
1.5GB RAM
Optical drive is external Sony DVD RW D/L (some rest for the supply here)

So what is next guys?

I'm currently checking out 10k rpm SATA drives at the moment (as my m/b supports RAID for matching SATA drives). Would these be too much for the supply?

Also, what can be done with memory timings in the BIOS? I don't understand what to tinker with first?

Is the new 3.0GHz LGA 775 CPU ready for EBay already, in favour of a dual core or something?

Need more more more!

Any ideas?
