When i switched my pc on yesterday morning i noticed a new hardware symbol in the bottom right hand corner i believe i clicked on it and it disapeared. Now though when i click the start symbol in the bottom left and then click my computer it says there is a 3 1/2 floppy drive in devices with removable storage and i have done nothing different and have certinately have not connected a floppy drive. Also not sure whether this is connected but when i switch on my pc when it firsts starts it now asks me to press either f1 or DEL to continue.I have so far pressed f1 and it starts up as usual but it never asked me to do this before yesterday.I hope someone can help me stop my pc from thinking it has a 3 1/2 floppy connected.

Looks like someone has been changing settings in the bios. go in to bios settings on bootup and you should be able to disable floppy drive support and hopefully change the boot settings

You'll have to turn off your computer and open it up. The battery for your BIOS is either dead or it got jarred loose. The battery is about the size of a quarter and you should be able to see it clearly on the motherboard. It sits in a small, plastic housing.

Fix that problem and then go into your BIOS and set the BIOS to use the default settings.
Make sure that you tell the BIOS that you don't have a floppy drive installed.
The BIOS settings can be accessed by rebooting the computer and pressed a key like ESC, DELETE, or F2. (The BIOS will display which key to press. The text screen comes & goes quickly, but you can pause the text screen by pressing the Pause/Break key.)

try looking in add and remove hardware, you could delete it from there. or do a system restore to before it started doing it. it may even tell you when it was put on there in the first place.
