Just open youc romputer and remove the watch battery for a minute, then put it back in. This will reset your bios. Make sure your computer is unplugged first. When you unplug it, press the power button again to get out eccess energy.
PS: go to run, type in prefetch, delete everything(programs you use will be put back in but spam will not)

The computer is way outdated but its sufficient enough to run windows xp, one thing you can do is disable all the start up programs. Thats why its taking so long at the welcome screen because it is loading up all the software. you can disable it by going to start and run. Type this in msconfig and go to the startup tab, and disable all the programs that you don't use or havent heard of, keep all your software that you use. But if you have aim yahoo messenger or anything like that set to start up at windows startup disable it, you can load it up individually.

Ahh looks like you already mentioned the msconfig sorry about that, the bios reset won't work, that has nothing to do with software, this seems to be a hardware issue, or your hard drive is dying. It could be failing or your motherboard is failing.

Hi. That is a VERY slow system to run any version of XP on. The best think you could do is max out your RAM. 256 is marginal at best.

Check your booting sequence, and turn off any networks on your BIOS.
It happened to me one stage and the problem was that network processes were interfering. So I turned off all unneccessary wireless/ network cards etc. and it turned okay.
