I've tried the "F8" key but it doesn't do anything it asks me if I want to reboot in Safe Mode and some other questions. I've done it before and that's not the screen that appeared last time.

It depends on the computer. Did your computer come with a separate partition that has the factory restore program on it or did it come with a restore disk(s)?

If you have the disk(s) follow Vulgar's instructions.

If it is on a separate partition. Open that partition and click on the restore icon and follow the on screen instructions.

The F-Key is only needed if you have to get into the BIOS to set the boot order. If using disks the boot order MUST be CD Rom before the Hard Drive. Again different computers use different "F" key to open the BIOS, Delete, ESC, F-2, F10, F12 are the most common.

It all depends on the kind of computer you have there. I have a HP at work and when I boot up, it gives me 3 F key options, F9 to go to the boot menu, F10 to go to the bios set up, and F12 to boot from LAN. What you need to do is put in your system restore cd that came with the computer and while booting up, go into your bios and make the first boot device the cd rom. Then save changes, and reboot. wait for your screen to ask you to "press any key to boot from CD......." Hit any key and it will start the system restore. If you have done that before, you should be all set from here.

No F key reformats the computer. You need to use the restore disk that either you made or came with your computer. Or in the event you have a PC that does this then use the reformat partation on your hard drive. The computer will do the rest of the work.

That's not it at all. You need the system restore disks. If you are dealing with Windows XP, you need in insert the CD, then it will ask you if you want to boot from CD, and so on and so on. There is no pressing of the "function" keys involved.
