I have a desktop E Machine and the computer will not turn on. The green light from the motherboard turns on when you plug it in. I cleaned it out and got all of the dust out of it, but it still will not turn on. What could be wrong with it?

I'm concerned that I'm going to buy something earlier and then immediately regret that I didn't have my ear to the ground and wait for the next big thing right around the corner. Upgrading an OS can be such a drag, so if its worth it, I'd rather wait and buy a new OS. Any thoughts?

I would like to upgrade to a faster system. I do a lot of video editing, and and find my present system slow. I have been told by Cyberlink to upgrade my video card should I upgrade my motherboard and cpu. I have 1GB of memory. Is there anything else that would help.

I want to get a new processor. I would like to get a new socket type and everything, but it cost like $500 to upgrade all that. I guess I will just upgrade my CPU to hold me for a while.

The 3400+ i'm looking at has these specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2.2 GHz Processor
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (2.2 GHz) 1 MB CACHE, 754 SOCKEt

And my sempron 2800+ has this:
AMD Sempron 64 2800+ Palermo 1.6GHz 256KB L2 Cache Socket 754 Processor

The frequency and the cache is a really big difference. That would help me in games like oblivion right?

Motherboard 3 years old. The computer was on and just shut down - I didn't see the screen so I don't know if there was a message. It won't turn on at all. There was no power surge. *shrug*

Playing off the recent "Mac vs. PC" commercials from Apple, I'm curious to hear which computer/OS you prefer and why. I actually own both currently (PowerMac and Dell), but am about to invest heavily into a new computer and would like to hear some additional thoughts on why you prefer one over the other.

I have a new Gateway GM5266E PC. Yesterday the sound was fine. Now I hear static with headphones, speakers, etc. Also, when I listen to music or watch a video, the person sounds extremely distorted. I can't tell what he or she is saying, and the person sounds like an alien-robot type person. My computer is fully updated. What do I do?

We have an Emachines desktop. This morning we tried to boot it up. At first it seemed to be working, but then it stopped booting, started clicking, and would not respond to anything. Now, when it is plugged in, the green light comes on and it buzzes, but does nothing else. We tried hooking another moniter up, and another power supply, but it still does nothing but light up and buzz. It is a pretty high pitched buzz, because my sister and I can hear it(14 and 16), but my parents can't. I don't know much about computers, and we really don't want to spend money on a repairman, so any help you could provide would be much appreciated.
