I have a desktop E Machine and the computer will not turn on. The green light from the motherboard turns on when you plug it in. I cleaned it out and got all of the dust out of it, but it still will not turn on. What could be wrong with it?

need more info ...did this computer ever work for you ? did you install or remove anything?
best guess is power supply . cmos battery disconnected hard drive inconpatabile memory or mother board.
first answer the questions for yourself then try unplugging th computer for 8 to 24 hours look over all connections at the back of the computer on the power supply check to see if th switch is all the way switched to the 110v side if its on the 220v side it won't work then see if the i/o switch is on =i then see if th power supply is connected to the motherboard then check all internal components to see if all are seated properly plugged in. look carefully at the mother board see if there is any discoloration or cracks make sure your mother board is not making contact with the chassie. when you plug in if nothing i stated was wrong but the computer starts up then it's a bad power supply hope this helps

If the motherboard detects a problem with the power supply it will not turn on.

You can meter the connections to the motherboard, but some voltages may not be present if the power supply system has detected a problem. The wrong memory, memory installed wrong or wrong memory voltage settings can cause power problems. Check and double-check EVERY jumper, connector and switch on the motherboard.

Did you disconnect anything? Is the case on securely? Did you try (unplugging it) and then (plugging it) back in?
