Motherboard 3 years old. The computer was on and just shut down - I didn't see the screen so I don't know if there was a message. It won't turn on at all. There was no power surge. *shrug*

There were no beeps - either when turning off or when I try to turn on. I've confirmed that the outlet is good and the cord is not falling out.

The power supply does NOTHING when I attempt to hit power.

the motherboard may have fried when it shutdown try unplugging the hard drive cs roms ect from the board and try to start it also remove any cards plugged into it if it comes to life then try plugging things in one at a time till it quits working again and then you know the problem

do you get any beeps from it, if so how many? These beeps can indicate a where the problem is. check your MoBo manual to see what the beeps mean. If you get no beeps, then may be a dead mobo!

you said "it won't turn on at all"
does the power supply make any fan noise? are you sure it is providing power to the mobo?

maybe the power plug fell out :D
