Desktops - February 2007

It starts to boot up, goes to the Windows XP screen that has the scrolling, wait thing and then shuts off. Then I have to wait at least 5 minutes to start up again, then it starts right away. But it will not restart if I hit Start, Turn off computer, Restart. It also won't restart if I install new programs and have to restart after. How can I fix this?

it also takes about 5 or 10 mins until i can turn it back on....what up with this...it works great other than that.

I need basic step by step instructions. I backup my movies using nero, dvdshrink, dvdfabdecrypter. So I already have those installed. But step by step...HOW DO I backup cdroms? Sims game most specifically.

cd drive making loud noise well using it wat could this be can it be broke could it still be under warrenty its a lite on 52x32x52x cd-rw & 16x dvd-rom also sometimes wjhen i open the door te cds are still spinning

i did 8 essays for RE coursework, teacher lost 5 of them, i dont have the files on my computer because we got a new hard drive, but i have the old hard drive still. Anyway that i can retriece these files from the old hard drve without paying enormous amonts of money??? thankyou!!

Its 2 months old has warranty 15inch flat moniter its acer aspire t180 80gb 1gb ram(upgraded)it has a windows vista upgrade if wanted cd/dvd combo id like to sell it to get a laptop

I'm not sure if gigahertz are relevant, but that would help me understand as well.

#2 I also would like to know what is the BEST motherboard to get (one with 2 video slots) I want to add LOTS of RAM maybe 4 gigs if possible?

#3 What would be the best/fastest Video Card(s) to get for graphics.

This computer is for music sequencing/audio recording as well as game playing (Battlefield2 - Microsoft Flight Sim X). So I would like to have absolutely no Lag if that can be done.

I haven't upgraded or purchased a new computer in about 4 years so I really would like to go all out if possible (within limits - I'm not talkin' Alienware or anything...lol... too expensive)
