I turn mine off. When windows runs for a long time it tends to confuse itself, restarting it is a great way of doing that. Plus you save electricity (250 watts x 12 hours x 365 days) = 1.095 kWh per person per year (300,000,000 people in USA assume 1/3 have computers) that's 109,500,000kWh per year at $.11 per kWh that's $12,045,000 per year saved - and I do not know how to calculate the amount of CO2 saved

turn it off at night when you go to bed then start it in the morning when you wake up

Its best to make it hibernate or stand by. Save energy and dont need to go through loading all those programs and crap you dont want.
