Playing off the recent "Mac vs. PC" commercials from Apple, I'm curious to hear which computer/OS you prefer and why. I actually own both currently (PowerMac and Dell), but am about to invest heavily into a new computer and would like to hear some additional thoughts on why you prefer one over the other.

get a mac!!! they are so much more secure then any pc. you said you were gonna "invest heavily" on a computer so put the money towards a mac. they might be a little more expensive but if you really think about it you are most likely gonna pay 50-100 dollars a year in antivirus for a pc not to mention you can still get a virus with all of the antivirus on your computer and you dont even have to waist your time on installing it onto a mac or the most important part you dont have to waist money and you are still at less of a chance to get a virus on a mac without antivirus then gettin one on a pc with antivirus. also apple is working very hard on getting a lot of software compatible to mac. especially with the new os coming out (leopard) the mac will be compatible with almost everything. also windows new os (vista) isnt even compatible with their own mp3 player (zune) or any antivirus either. i highly dought that mac will have those same problems.

Macs are generally more refined than PCs ...but I find that the commercials use "half truths" to make certain points.
They give the impression that Macs don't get viruses or spyware & that they don't need drivers for peripherals ... etc ...
Non savy PC novices are easily impressed by this ... then again. all TV commercials require you read the fine print ... it is just a commercial, isn't it ?
What do I prefer ?
The computer is a just a tool.... not a faith or creed.
I will buy & use whatever it takes to do a task properly ... obviously the one that costs less
... right now the PC does all I need it to do.
Not much more to say than that.

I have a 2 p.c.'s at home. I have used a mac for some classes at school. Personally, I like the pc better. The macs at school were always hosing up. It may have been because of the abuse that they take at school though.
If I were more creative I might lean toward a mac for photo/video editing. Music too.
It may just be that I have used a pc for so long now that it would be hard to change to a mac.

Both, Cause Mac is virus free but lacks programs and many things.
Pc cause it has everything i need but have a chance of virus

I use pc because I loath macs. Apple is like hitler. it want to control everything about its product, so there is nothing for it. No games, one kind of each software, and if you dont like it you have to deal with it.
I also like how you can customize your pc to the performance you want. Everything is cheap, and there are abundant choices. If you need to do something, someone has something for it.
