Should I get the 64 bit edition of Windows Vista?

The Pentium D 940 is a 64b processor.

I haven't checked the prices for Vista but is there a price difference for the two?

I would say if not or you have cash to burn then go for the 64-bit edition.

However, the software just isn't available for the 64-bit. I know with Windows XP 64bit edition it wouldn't run all the software. So there is a possibility that your 32bit apps will not run on 64bit Vista so it depends on how good of a job Microsoft did.

I ran the 64-bit Vista Beta and it was fine but a lot of the software I had needed to be upgraded for both 32- and 64-bit editions.

I'm in support of progress and I think you should go for the 64-bit even if it's not necessary.
