I'm assembling a new computer but I don't know which is better between Core 2 Duo E6300 and Pentium D 915. Both are dual core. The Core 2 Duo is supposedly last generation and has a faster bus at 1066 Mhz, but the Pentium D has twice the cache (4 MB) and runs at 2,80 GHz vs. 1,86 for the Core 2 Duo. How could the Core 2 Duo be faster? For a fact, it IS pricier.

You can see both here: http://indigo.intel.com/compare_cpu/showchart.aspx?mmID=884355,881356&familyID=1

I intend to use the computer with Ableton Live 6 and other software for multitrack audio edition and realtime DSP.

Just like the XP supports multiple login, can we have multiple desktop running different platforms that can be switched with a single or few key strokes?

Was I an fool to buy a Vista machine?

2007-02-15 00:22:52 · 5 answers · asked by junglejoe 2

I have gone back to XP just as i had predicted!
Vista is a crap system why because it is a resource hungry system.it crashes moreas to compatibility issues.it is not backward compatible.it has also security holes more than you can poke a stick at.it is much slower in multi tasking than xp! Oh and none of your old drivers will work.
So why is it so extra crap? Can I get a refund?
Thanks...

I left my pc at work for about an hour while I went to lunch and when I came back I caught someone on my pc. They said they were only doing a maintenance upgrade but I've lost some programs on the pc that I need. I think they uninstalled it and looked around my files. Is there a way to see what they did and what folders they went to? Like a registry of events or anything?
