Desktops - February 2007

. they are four beeps they same length of time then everything freezes and computer does not respond to ctrl-alt-delete. i have to turn it off in order to restart it. does anybody know why this might be?

I havent had a desktop for a while, my last 2 computers were laptop. Im thinking about building a desktop in july when i get back from Iraq. My question is that do we still need to have 2 identical cards for the SLI setup? or can we mix and match now

I am trying to assemble a new Desktop computer for myself and I've been having lots of trouble with the motherboard.
I've bought brand new Motherboard and Processor and I am sure that they are compatible with each other. I have also checked my Power Supply and it works perfectly fine.

Apart from the long problem.. I want to know that even if i don't connect any of the connectors from the case to the motherboard (PLED, HLED etc.) the computer still turns on as soon as plug the power cable in the Power Supply.

Is this a normal behavior or is it a dead motherboard ??

I logged off my PC like normal. When I tried to go back in the PC started up OK, but I can't get passed a DOS screen. I can't use the keyboard (nothing happens). Prior to this happening I could turn off my PC by clicking the usual "turn off computer". Please help...

It woke me up. I already know I'm a novice about pcs. Any help, thanks. And why doesn't spell check work on 2. Add details (optional)? I have a corrupt drive running as a slave on another windows xp system. Windows tells me it is corrupt, and won't let me access it.

All I want to do is access the drive in read only mode, to see what I can get off it. Later, I will reformat, and rebuild.

I am on my laptop right now, but i want to fix my living room computer. It is a HP Pavilion a819n. I guess i tried installing a Windows Vista Demo, the computer stopped working. I start the computer up and it won't let me do a system restore. I DO NOT HAVE A DISK TO REINSTALL WINDOWS XP. Windows won't start up, it says i need a key, but i installed a demo, and i want my Windows XP back. Is there anyway i can delete everything off of my computer to get it back the way it was? I'm looking for a compaq presario running windows XP for my parents. Can't find at big box stores because they cleared the shelves when Vista came out. I bought a Compaq Presario a1209n this time last year for $399. It has 512MB and 200GB with light scribe and 9 in 1 reader. Would like to find something close to this for parents. Novice users and don't need Vista. Thanks

could anyone help me my com used to be really quick i have a good anti virus installed which hasnt picked up ant viruses still got loads of memory left on the com but recently i have only got to be on the com for about half an hour and it start going really slow and i have to keep re booting it to make it go a bit quicker but after half an hour it goes the same please can anyone help only senable replies please

I bought a Dell computer a couple months ago. It came with all the Driver cd`s. When I use the windows xp disk it came with, it doesn`t install my sound drivers or any drivers at all. it came with other disks for the drivers. So I guess the windows xp disk they gave me is nothing but a windows xp disk. If I tried to use that disk to install windows xp on an other compuer, will it work? or is it only going to work for dell computers? My guess, I think it should work on an another computer sence its just a windows cd. but on the disk, it does say DELL on it. Please and thank you for the answers.
