is there a new SLI solution yet?

I havent had a desktop for a while, my last 2 computers were laptop. Im thinking about building a desktop in july when i get back from Iraq. My question is that do we still need to have 2 identical cards for the SLI setup? or can we mix and match now

As long as the have the same GPU, you can mix different types of cards. Unless you are planning to spend about $1000 on your graphics cards alone, there is really no point in going for SLI, for any amount of money less than that you would be better off just buying one good card.
