. they are four beeps they same length of time then everything freezes and computer does not respond to ctrl-alt-delete. i have to turn it off in order to restart it. does anybody know why this might be?

beeping is the computers way of talking to you when it can't........look up the motherboard manual, usually the number of beeps will tell you whats wrong, such as graphics card or memory, that sort of stuff.......open it up, take a look, wiggling the connection to see if that helps, or you'll just have to replace it.

Since it starts without beeping and the keyboard does not respond after it starts beeping you may have a stuck key. Unplug your keyboard. If the beeping stops you have solved your problem.

It's hard to say what's wrong with your pc. Check with your PC maker self help section or tech support. Get your serial number or model number ready and search for a fix to your problem. Did you just install new hardware or played around with your PC insides? Perhaps is overheating.

You should check if the keyboard and the mouse cables are connected and are in the right place at the back of your pc.

this could be from defective hardware.check the memory especially.over heating CPU,also could be a sign of a bad motherboard
