I want to buy a desk top computer. what spec do I need.? I only skpe and read e-mails and a litle photoshop. So I guess not much. But I want a huge screen? What should I look out for when buying the screen?

Don't I repeat DON'T buy a Packard Bell -they are shite and back up is all but impossible!

Go for a flat screen thats good even on more than 1024*768 resolution. For the processor AMD is better than an Intel and you dont need a dual core anyways. GO for latest AMD processor with 512 MB RAM and choose a combo drive with a CD R\W but only DVD reader. Get a 128 MB Graphic card and you are set to rock.

for what you want to do, i would recomend an eMachine or dell. they both can come with a 17"lcd display or 19" however you order it for around $500 plenty of drive space and memory and a dvd burner, make sure you get windows XP, not vista. there are too many problems with it. the display really isn't going to matter too much on the type.

1Gb of RAM should be enough with either XP or Vista for the specifications you said.
The processer is not that important in your case either.
The screen can be 17".

If I was you...Dude.....get a DELL, i'm a graphic designer and it works great for it. I have a 22' LCD monitor - it's a BEAUTY! Good LUCK!!!
