Upgrading a machine is a continuous mechanism. And a continuous pain too. Though it falls a bit cheaper but every now and then you have to go through the painful process. For a normal home user, i always suggest a new machine. Coz you cant upgrade a machine and keep it abreast of current application requirements. Upgrade means, the already struggling computer will struggle a bit less. I suggest buy a low profile but new machine. It will still perform better than upgrade. Specially when your existing machine is really old.

all depend's on what you want the Computer to do. But most of the time buying New is way CHEAPER than UPGRADING ( Unless you like the Old Computer you Have (As for me I mostly Upgrade Memory an Video an Maybe an New HHD) but if your wanting a Faster Running System Like 3.6 GIG/4.3 GIG then buy it new cause it will come setup with almost everything you need already

It all depends on high much of an upgrade you want.
I wouldn't buy a new PC just for a larger hard drive ....
But ... if I want the latest Windows & a bigger hard drive & more RAM & a faster CPU, etc ... then buying a new one is the wise choice.
P3 is very old & mostly likey eveything else on that PC is as well. Don't invest in old technology ... it's like buying a bunch of new parts for a 10yr old car ...not a good investment.

It would be easier to buy a new one, even a cheap new one is less expensive to upgrade than one that old. If you can do the work yourself, buy an inexpensive new one from Dell then just upgrade as you can afford it to what you really want, that being if you can't afford to just buy one that comes with what you want now, either way it's a big step up from what you're at.
