No you were not a fool. People that are too used to XP and dont like the change will say bad things about vista. I was like that when I went from 98 to XP. I thought XP was stupid and 98 was great. Now I look back and laugh at how stupid that was. Just give it time and everything will be better. Vista is a much better OS and does more than XP, you just going to have to explore Vista.

Sure it does more ... more for Microsoft & its partners than for anyone else.... there are some new advanced features but nothing we can't do without.
It's mostly bells & whistles packaged together in a bright & shiny gold-plated piece of tin meant to attract visually & not via substance.
I had just posted this for "the truth" Belushi minutes ago ...
I don't like the restriction of use involving copyright protected media.
I don't like it not letting me install programs it deems "unsafe" or believes that they infringe on copyright protection.
I do not like having to use "run as administrator" to allow programs to install because this gives the installation process much too many rights that it would not have under XP.
- this has actually been exposed as a huge security flaw.
I do not like myself for having been a sucker for "eye candy" & not realizing that there really isn't much Vista can do that XP MCE didn't already do for me (& more that Vista will not let me do).
read this :

Luckily I work for a PC manufacturer & did not have to pay for Vista.
I now am back to using XP Media Center Edition.

For twice the price I would expect to see a much faster processor, more memory, faster graphics and disk. It would do the same things as an older PC but some things faster. You would need to run applications where you would notice it.
