I have a situation where I need to share one keyboard and mouse between multiple computers, but NOT THE VIDEO!!! It's a home-office trading environment with 4 monitors which all must be monitored simultaneously, so replacing what's displayed on a single monitor isn't useful.

Newer electronic KVM switches are no good because most only have one connector on the box side instead of seperate video/mouse/keyboard inputs, so they don't work at all when the video cable isn't connected.

I need something like the old manual data switches from 10-15 years ago, but ideally with buttons to select which computer is active, instead of a dial to turn. There will be lots of switching throughout the day, and the dial/knob versions seem like a recipe for repetitive wrist injury.

I'd like one with 4 buttons so I can select a system quickly with a single press, rather than cycling through.

Anyone know of a brand/model KVM switch that has 4 distinct buttons like this? Thanks!

Is it possible that your computer will freeze if wires or anything else are touching inside of it? Mine freezes multiple times but i moved the wires around and it went about 20 min without freezing. Also it freezes whenever I try to play a game, Could it be my video card causing it to freeze?

Hi. I have an Alienware Area-51 m7700. My dad has this obsession with leaving laptops plugged into the wall when they're done being charged and not being used for he's convinced the batteries will explode or the computer will overheat or some other catastrophe will occur. I would think that there would be precautions against this, and once the battery is full it would stop accepting 'juice,' but I'm not entirely sure.

Do I have anything to worry about with my laptop exploding? Should I unplug it and turn it off when Im not using it or is it safe to keep it plugged in?

My computer started giving me an error when i would try to boot up "ntldr missing" well I had it wiped out and had windows xp reinstalled. Now I cant connect to the interner, apperantly when the person reinstalled xp it didn't install my modem. I looked in the Sound menu and it says"Microphone...Conexant High Definition Audio....Working..." So does that mean I have a microphone? I tried to record and no sound was played back. It is already enabled, unmuted, and do not have any other microphone.

Im making a new pc. I will buy a amd cpu, new ram, a new case... and keep hard drives and graphic card from the old one. But I have a problem... My Computer is telling me that I have two processors.
I have one P4 3.20Ghz in a Titan Motherboard with a SiS 648FX Chipset.
On windows task manager/performance/cpu usage history,
the window is split although it gives the same graph in both windows!
Under Computer Management, in Device Manager on the components tree, under processors there are two identical discriptions of my P4!
I've tryed deleting one twice, a different one each time, but they both come back!
Has this happened to anyone elses before?

I own a P4 1.7GHZ PC with a single AGP slot and 5 PCI slots. Currently the system has a video card in the AGP slots and a Voodoo 2 PCI videocard to give a total of 2 monitors for my Win 2K3 desktop. I've tried adding a 3 videocard into the mix (into another PCI slot) but winodws refuses to install it complaining about error code 10. I am unable to adjust IRQ settings for any of the cards.

Would a solution be to find a newer PCI video card circa 1999+ ? Or are there dirt cheap dual monitor AGP cards available instead?

What is the cheapest (used is fine) solution into upgrading my Win2K3 system to use 3 monitors on my desktop. I dont care for 3D graphics abilities, only 32bit color display and 1280x1024 rez.
