You are making an assumption somewhere that is invalid.
It is extremely unlikely that all your PCI slots are dead. (Probability approaches zero)
Do you have any expansion cards in any PCI slot?
Does it work?
Does it still work when you move it to another PCI slot?
Does your wireless adaptor work in the emptied slot?

Click on Start, then right click on the My Computer icon, then click on Properties, click on Hardware tab, then click on Device Manager, then click on the System Devices folder to expand it and verify that CPU to PCI and PCI BUS (folder) do not have a Yellow quotation mark by them. If they do, you have to load their drivers.
