I've had many laptops-
gateway- junk
toshiba-junk
averatec- junk
hp- no problems other than it's a PC
macbook- finally tried a macbook, and it's the best, you won't ever want a pc after you've had a mac!!

The best laptop is the one that best FITS your needs and your budget. Handle it with care and it should not give you any problem for 3 years or more except perhaps a battery replacement. Just stick to reputable brands w/ in-country authorized distributor.

if your a person who cant do anything on a computer, get a mac. ifyou know how to do stuff, and just want say pics, video, and music, get a hp. if you want one for gaming(like i'm saving up for)get an alienware. thier basic laptop which has more than minimum requirements for most games costs $1050 or $1150 with microsoft flight simulator x, a really great game.
