Hardware - February 2007

I have a new 160G hard drive. I copy everything from my old 60G drive. It works fine for my one computer that I imported all of the data from, but when I try to run it on another it won't work. It says "Error loading Operating System"

I think the problem is that the computer I got the data from has an Pentium4 processor and my other computer has intel celeron.

What can I do?! IS there anyplace i can download something to fix this?

slightly overclocked at 650mhz core, PCI-E 8x (maybe 16x not sure yet).................

currently running XP pro, have Vista boot disc...................

i work through "click dvd" that came with my computer(sony vaio)
when i get to the final stage to burn a dvd it says to put in a recordable dvd...which i do put in. It keeps repeating the same message. So i'm guessing my computer does burn dvd"s

Well. I wasn't sure so I decided to post here. When will AMD's new line of products coming out along with ATI's new video cards and such? I want AMD to overcome intel's Core 2 Duo. I'm building a new computer soon so I must know. Anybody know?

I recently bought a 2.0 ghz white macbook with 1 gig of RAM, and have taken to doing some video editing and such on it. While it is fairly fast, it takes a good deal of time applying video affects to movies, and when I used iDVD to make a menu for a movie, it took a long time to render the menu (I'm not talking about burning here) and other related activities. How much effect will adding 1 gig of RAM to it (it currently has 1 gig) have? It currently has a matched pair of 512s, so I would have to buy 2 1 gigs, so it would be around $250.

I'm 15 and I'm looking for a laptop thats not that expensive... at the most, $750. because I'm not a gamer. But i want to be able to watch some movies so a DVD player would be nice. and a CD player. and a pretty recent program (like XP) so i can take it around for powerpoint and microsoft word. So basically, I want a laptop thats not too big, can play CDs and DVDs, and is efficient. (cool looking would be a plus but not a necessity)

Bought a HP Optical mouse after my other went out, It worked fine for a while and then started jumping everywhere, i thought it may have been faulty, so i got another of the same type and it did the same thing. Bit odd i thought, so i found a ball mouse laying around and it did the same thing. I have checked the port (Ps2) and it looks fine. Yesterday some of my games were freezing for about 4 seconds on and off and today i noticed 2 games i had crashed that never have before.

Any ideas what it could be? Could this be RAM be going out or my video card causing all these problems?

I have an HP PSC 1610 All-In-One and an HP laptop. I have downloaded the software from the HP website but it doesn't have the scan button on it. And I'm not sure if it's correctly installed. Can someone try to give me instructions for this?

I just bought a desktop from Future Shop. Its graphic card is ATI Radeon Xpress 200 which supports dual output. Here comes the problem.

I tried to output the video from computer to my TV. I connect the TV and computer (the cable is ok), but there is no image on TV. I went to the display setting and tried to enable the secondary display. I checked the box and hit apply. The screen flashed once and the box became unchecked. It looks like the enable function is locked.

Also, I pulled out the primary monitor from the computer and had the computer to locate the output device. At beginning, the TV showed some starting image, such as Compaq logo, and then became blank after 3 seconds. I think this means the cable setting is right.

Any one knows how to solve it?
